Count The Stars

by Vacancy Chain

/
1.
There’s no words, for what’s occurred Kid I know it seems so absurd but we were meant for this So raise a glass, to all that passed Whatever’s coming next is coming fast but we were meant for this If you must, if you insist give it up and call it quits It’s okay if you’re remiss ‘cause I know that we were meant for this
2.
A particle in suspension of disbelief as we fall I hope you’re paying attention because this affects us all A false flag operation that they blindly salute but the facts and the evidence are still in dispute Tied to the mast of this sinking ship It’s starting to list Are you getting the gist? Am I crazy or is this it? And you said resist, you said resist They profit off of our sorrows our sickness and our sins And they’ll invest in injustice because it pays dividends And so divided we stand between the left and the right between the rich and the poor between the black and the white Tied to the mast of this sinking ship It’s starting to list Are you getting the gist? And am I crazy or is this it? And you said resist, you said resist

No Vacancy 01:45
Don’t call it concern ‘cause you don’t really care Don’t call it sanctity when it’s our life or theirs We’ve got no room, no vacancy I wanna know who you think gave you the right to decide what we ought to do with our lives We’ve got no room, no vacancy Wrong path, can’t go back Try a different tact What do you want from me? Won’t quit, won’t submit not even a little bit It’s our autonomy We’ve got no room, no vacancy
4.
Finally, we can almost taste it If we bite off more than we can chew, you will choke on all of our ambition If we try I don’t think we can lose And it’s falling into place, falling into place Finally, it could get better If it won’t, we’ll turn this thing around Hit the brakes, kill the ignition Take a look at what’s left to be found And it’s falling into place, falling into place There’s nothing to erase this time and it’s falling into place We could be naive but we still want to believe It’s falling into place, falling into place There’s nothing to erase this time and it’s falling into place
5.
Tell me what it takes, ’cause it feels like something then it dissipates And I just wanna get this right Tell me what to do ‘cause you’re staring at me and I’m looking past you and I don’t wanna fuck this up I’ve tried I swear to you Changed my whole point of view I’ll be whatever you want me to How much is enough? They say money talks, In fact, it never shuts up and we can’t afford the price I’ve tried I swear to you Changed my whole point of view I’ll be whatever you want me to
6.
Just Once 03:00
Just once I knew what life was for you were standing on the ledge I was standing on the shore watching the lights repeating This feeling is so fleeting now and I tried to tell you, but you didn’t wanna hear it I didn’t wanna know and now I understand how you thought... how you thought you could Count the stars, my little campaigners It’s so hard to deny our natures but if you want to... if you want to I always knew this wouldn’t last We climbed over the underpass and cried our hearts to the east and westbound traffic as it passed us on our way home make it there before the coming dawn and in the morning discovered that all our truths were gone Count the stars, my little campaigners It’s so hard to deny our natures but if you want to... if you want to Count the stars, my little campaigners I’ll be on my best behavior It’s so hard to deny our natures but if you want to... if you want to
7.
Cutting your sleeves, you’re making it seem it’s always this way, it’s always okay Okay, to forget but you’ve got regrets, the curve of your back and the look on your face Lipstick or blood staining your skin You wanna give in, you wanna begin Begin to let go, there’s no way I know, there’s no way I know Elimination of the ideal, Assimilate how we think and we feel Here’s us turning out, it’s not turning out Autumn is black, and there’s no way back Back to the front and the things that you want The girls & the boys are bound the destroy the sound with the noise, and the sound that you make, static still but you never feel the price that you pay is worth the wait Just wait and see but you’re never pleased, you’re never pleased Changing direction, changing your mind In quick succession changing the line Here’s us turning out, it’s not turning out

Loblolly 04:15
I shook off the dust of my old life, and I headed into the cold. And though the wind it blows so slight, it still chills to the bone. And I recall false memories of indeciduous summer days. How they all seem to be lost in a winter’s haze It’s just a faint outline of what you can’t decide And for the rest of your life you wanna know what it’s like The frost collects on all these thoughts that I’ve tried to erase. They’re a morose menagerie of all of my mistakes. But if I had the chance I’d do it all the same, because that which doesn’t kill is probably done in vain. It’s more or less a lie, no matter how you try A loblolly pine, & you’ll never know what it’s like. You’re bracing for disasters that may never come So you might as well try to have some fun, if only for a moment in this continuum, 'cause before you know it, it’s already done.
9.
If you’re gonna leave it this way go ahead you know it’s okay I’ve gotten sort of used to it by now If I don’t care what they say it doesn’t make it better Everyone’s just trying to help But there is something in-between what you know and you believe A side of me that you don’t want to see Do you agree? I know that it’s hard to appreciate when everything’s ruined when things feel out of place In your absence my heart grows heavy It’s filled with a negative space But there is something that seeps out from underneath A side of you that you don’t want to see Do you agree? You’re trying to cut out a part of you, a part that cuts too deep But there is something that seeps out from underneath A side of you that you don’t want to see Do you agree?
10.
A nervous breakdown into pieces It never ceases to amaze me how it’s a matter of opinion whether all of this is worth anything And it’s an answer to a question nobody’s even asking I’m always lookin’ over my shoulder to avoid what’s right in front of me Are you ready for when my mood will change? We both know what this is, but we don’t dare speak its name We’ve got the picture, but we lost the frame, and I’m so tired of hearing myself complain to you A nervous breakdown into pieces At least you think I’m funny, but it always sort of feels like the joke is somehow on me Are you ready? ‘Cause my mood will change We both know what this is but we don’t dare speak its name We got the picture but we lost the frame, and I’m so tired of hearing myself complain to you. A nervous breakdown into pieces (A nervous breakdown into pieces) A nervous breakdown into pieces (A nervous breakdown into pieces) A nervous breakdown into pieces (A nervous breakdown into pieces) A nervous breakdown (A nervous breakdown)

Fading chances, backwards glances Is it too late to save us? These conversations are placations They’re all designed to break us. I hope you don’t mind running for your life We’re running out of time now I used to believe what they told me Now I wake up screaming So what’s real and what’s fake? and how much can we take? It’s losing all meaning. I hope you don’t mind running for your life We’re running out of time now. I hope you don’t mind running for your life We’re running out of time now.
